ABOUT US

In the agricultural sector, it is a well-known fact—often emphasized by those working in the field—that there is a need for personnel who possess knowledge about agricultural products, the problems encountered during their cultivation and how to resolve them, the identification of diseases and pests, and the proposal of solutions. This program aims to teach students agricultural laboratory techniques, introduce the instruments and devices used in analyses, and develop laboratory working skills. Additionally, it aims to train mid-level professionals who can determine methods related to soil, water, plant, food, and feed analyses and plant protection techniques; who can perform applied analyses; and who can evaluate the results of these analyses.

Degree Awarded: Associate’s degree graduate; Agricultural Laboratory Technician; Laboratory Technician

Employment Opportunities: Graduates can work as Laboratory Technicians in relevant units of the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Food (Agricultural Laboratories, Plant Laboratories, Food Laboratories, Chemistry Laboratories), in Food Quality Control Directorates, in relevant units of the Turkish Grain Board, in laboratories affiliated with the Undersecretariat of Customs, in Provincial Directorates of Environment and Forestry, and in relevant university laboratories. Graduates may also work in relevant laboratories in the private sector. Employment areas include the Provincial Directorates of the Ministry of Agriculture, the State Hydraulic Works, Chambers of Agriculture, hospitals, Agricultural Credit Cooperatives, and laboratories—public or private—conducting soil, water, plant, and fertilizer analyses; feed factories; factories producing all kinds of food, pharmaceuticals, and agricultural inputs; and laboratories of private or public institutions engaged in waste remediation.

Progression to Higher Degree Programs (Post-Graduation Bachelor’s Completion Opportunities): Program graduates may take the DGS (Vertical Transfer Examination) to enter the bachelor’s programs prescribed by YÖK (the Council of Higher Education) listed below and complete a bachelor’s degree. Alternatively, they may take the YKS administered by ÖSYM and, upon admission to Agricultural, Food, or Aquaculture Engineering programs at universities, they can use exemptions for a substantial portion of the courses they completed in the associate program to finish more quickly and successfully.
